The Association of Latin American Students (ALAS) is pleased to host its 9th AnnualEducation Across the Americas Conference at Teachers College, Columbia University.This year’s theme—Experiences, Challenges, and Solutions—aims to create a space in which members of different learning and scholarly communities from Latin American, the Caribbean, and North America, share their experiences and knowledge on the promotion of educational development and educational change across the Americas. Through this transnational dialogue, scholars can learn from the research and analysis that has been done in different national, cultural, linguistic, political and economic contexts, and draw upon these experiences— translating and adapting solutions and lessons learned.

The Association of Latin American Students (ALAS) is a student
organization located in Teachers College, Columbia University, in New
York City. As an organization that aims at creating academic, cultural,
and social networks within the Latin American community across time and
place, ALAS offers a wide range of activities to accomplish this
mission such as an annual conference, social and cultural events,
symposia, workshops, an online discussion forum, and a weekly
